University Preparation Course in Spain (Selectividad)

UNEDasiss is a service provided by Spain's UNED university for applicants with qualifications from education systems outside Spain. It evaluates academic documents, calculates an admission score, and issues UNEDasiss accreditation, which is accepted by many Spanish universities. You can also use the service to register for PCE exams. This accreditation does not replace the official recognition of your secondary school qualification, known as homologation: if you need it, you must apply separately. The UNEDasiss services you need depend on your previous education and the requirements of your chosen university.

The PAU (Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad), also known as EBAU, is a university entrance exam based on the Spanish Bachillerato curriculum. This route is also available to some students with qualifications from outside Spain, provided they meet the relevant requirements. Whether it is suitable for you depends on your qualification and the rules of your chosen university. Our program includes preparation for this exam if you need it for admission.

PCE (Pruebas de Competencias Específicas) are UNED exams in individual secondary school subjects for applicants with qualifications from outside Spain. The results are used to calculate admission scores, and subjects weighted by your chosen university can contribute additional points through weighting factors known as ponderaciones. You can take exams in up to six subjects. Which exams you need and how your scores are calculated depend on your previous education, chosen university, and degree program.

Subjects are selected with the requirements of Spanish universities, UNEDasiss rules, and the structure of the PCE / PAU (EBAU) exams in mind. The combination and number of exams depend on your previous education, chosen degree program, and the region where you plan to study: universities in Valencia and Barcelona may have different requirements. Subject selection takes into account both compulsory subjects and the opportunity to improve your admission score through additional exams. Our school offers preparation in four or six exam subjects alongside Spanish language study. The final selection is agreed upon after the course begins and once the student provides information about their chosen university and degree program.

Prepare your secondary school diploma and academic transcript in advance. Depending on the country where they were issued, the documents may need an apostille or consular legalization; documents from certain countries are exempt. If they are not in Spanish, you will need an official translation, for example by a sworn translator (traductor jurado). If admission requires homologation of your secondary school qualification, you must apply to Spain's Ministry of Education or the competent regional education authority. Homologation confirms that your foreign qualification is equivalent to the Spanish Bachillerato. You can apply before arriving in Spain. Our school provides guidance and helps students prepare and submit the documents needed for homologation.

If you are applying for a student visa to take a Spanish language course, you must be at least 18 years old when you submit your application. This age requirement applies to language courses classified as actividades formativas. If you do not need to apply for a student visa or the corresponding authorization to stay in Spain to join the program, you may participate at a younger age.

According to the requirements of Spanish consulates, an application for student residence (Type D visa) may be submitted no earlier than 6 months before the course start date. The application must be submitted no later than 2 months before the course begins. Students should therefore plan their document preparation and consular appointment well in advance.
